Hey everyone! Today’s book is Spirit Adept, book one in the Words of Power series, by Cheryl Corbin. The ebook is available on Amazon for $2.99, and the paperback for $9.95.
When I introduce a new author to you, I like to tell you if/how I know this author – and it’s my pleasure to say that I do know Cheryl Corbin! I met her at the first North Iowa Book Bash – she was my tablemate. She taught me so much about being an author in the three hours we were together, and I am grateful! That doesn’t mean I’m giving her book the rating I’m giving it because of that.
She earned it.
Spirit Adept is a coming of age/sword and sorcery fantasy novel about a young woman named Amaya, and the astonishing world she lives in. When we first meet Amaya, she has next to nothing – and in fact soon loses her home after we meet her! Soon after we meet Amaya, something – I promised no big spoilers! – big happens to her, and through that she meets Cabren. Their journey together isn’t easy, and is fraught with missteps, misunderstandings, and trouble…but being the genre my own heart is in, it is absolutely a book I would – and plan on – reading again.
Even with all of that, however, there is one downside: if you’re a ravenous reader, Amaya’s adventure seems like it’s over far too soon. But don’t worry…just because the book is over doesn’t mean the series is!
I give Spirit Adept 5 out of 5 tails.
